LINKS PAGE
Hopefully you will find some useful links here. I could fill pages with links but, to what end? I have placed here a few links that I found to be very good places to visit for various reasons. Some are very well done and are excellent sources of information, some will bring back good memories, and some I borrowed information or graphics from and I should repay them by supplying a link to their web site. Some web sites are a combination of all three of the above reasons :-)
The following links are to web sites that individuals like myself placed on the web for others, like yourself, to look at. Everybody has a reason/s for doing this as it is a time consuming process. My main reason for building my web site is that I could not find another web site that had what I was looking for, so I built one to satisfy my wants and needs plus, lets face it, I had information from sources other sites did not have (the log books). As there is a lot of work involved in building a web site, please take a few minutes and check out these sites that involve the Lloyd Thomas or the Navy.
The 1st site I would like to mention is "The Unofficial Lloyd Thomas WestPac Homepage DD764" that Scott Sheffer is the web master of. Scott was an RD3 on the LT for the years 70-72. Scott has a lot of information and pictures on past reunion's and information on future reunion's
The next site would be fellow crew member Frank Biasco. Unfortuneately, Frank has passed away. The page that you would be directed to is a memorial page for Frank. Frank was an original "Plank Owner" and his military career is displayed on this site.
For you crew members that were involved with the attempted Texas Tower rescue or if you are just plain interested in Texas Towers, you can visit the Texas Tower site.
Here are the Web sites for Task Group Bravo ships:
USS Wasp CVS18
USS Keppler 765
USS Fred T Berry 858
USS Norris 859
USS McCaffery 860
USS Harwood 861
USS Blandy 943
NOTE: If you want all the web sites for a certain ship do a search in one of the search engines, such as google.com, as there is most likely more than one web site for each ship.
Are you subscribed to the Tin Can Sailors newsletter? The newsletter is strictly about Tin Cans and is well worth the $20.00 a year cost. It always contains great articles and neat little tibits of information. It is published 4 times a year. If you are looking for shipmates you can go directly to Tin Can Sailors
Shipmate Search.
If you are going to surf Navy sites, this one is a must see. It is the Haze Gray & Underway - Naval History & Photography Site and it is excellent.
Two other good sites for Naval history and information is the Naval History Center or the Department of the Navy's Historical Center. This last site is excellent as it has all kinds of information you wouldn't think of such as info on "dog tags", etc.
Another site for leaving your own personal information or looking for shipmates is at the Navy Memorial Foundation. You can even leave your picture here for the world to see. If you are ever in the Washington, DC area, stop by and check the memorial out. Great place to visit.
Have one last site for you. Remember the old "Kilroy Was Here" symbol that was posted all over Europe (actually almost all areas of the world) during WWII - well, take a tour of the site dedicated to Kilroy and WWII along with the Korean War. Check out the Kilroy Was Here and you will not be disappointed.
